The Board of Ministers enacted a legislation with respect to the establishment of the special group on digital economy to harmonize the development of digital economy, to take an active part in making changes in the field and to make decisions regarding abiding by the budget rules and other relative regulations. The Act was communicated by the vice president in 01/01/2022.
The primary obligations of the group which is comprised of high-ranking authorities, shall be developing the infrastructures of the digital economy, removing obstacles and accelerating the formation of the digital economy ecosystem in the country, supporting digital platforms, businesses and basic technologies, providing for the development of basic technology professions in the country, removing barriers in the way of Iranian platforms regarding their the activities at an international level and developing the skills required for the digital economy.
According to Article 127 of the Constitution, members of the group would have the authority to make decisions regarding the aforementioned matters and such decisions would maintain the validity of the decisions made by the President and the Board of Ministers. The group shall also report to the President on a monthly basis.
